This post is all about 5 promises of God to give you hope.
“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
II Peter 3:9 NKJV
Have you ever felt anxious and worried that God has forgotten about you? Or life’s situations and difficulties seem so unfair and so heavy that God can’t possibly love and care about you as much as he says he does? It’s okay to have these thoughts and frustrations. I have felt them too.
As Christians, we are supposed to be invincible and unwavering and full of faith 24/7….right?
I’m here to tell you to breathe…let yourself feel your feelings. Your emotions are valid and reasonable and so many countless others have felt them before too! Yes, even the mighty disciples and prophets spoken of in the Bible has gone through similar fears and grievances. And God knows you will go through these things. He has packed the Bible full of his promises and assurances just for these times to still and calm your heart. And today, we will go into 5 of the top promises God has given us.
5 Promises of God to Give You Hope
1. He will never leave you
“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV
God has promised us that he will be our friend and companion when things are good and when things go wrong. Sometimes it feels as if God isn’t there and you’re all alone. But even in his silence, his presence remains. You can trust that God will not leave you, even if you sinned or messed up or feel unforgivable. He won’t leave you even when everyone else has left you.
Whenever I feel as though God isn’t listening or he has left me, I take a moment and I pray. I assure myself that He hasn’t left even though I feel alone. I ask Him to make me feel his comfort and his love, and to walk through this situation by His side. I then go to the scripture and read His word. God speaks to us through His word all the time. Whenever we feel like he isn’t there, start praying and diving into the word. Sit in a moment of silence with God. Start to worship and sing songs in your heart. When you invite God into your life, your situation, and your space, God make Himself known and remind you that he has never left you, and he has been guiding you through this all along.
2. He won’t give you more than you can handle
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” I Corinthians 10:13 NKJV
Read this verse over and over again to remind yourself of God’s grace. God knows everything about you; God knows your weaknesses, your limitations, your strengths.
At times when it seems like you will break under the pressure, or die from the pain, give yourself a little relief and know that you will survive this. Rest in God and give it over to him, he has already made a way out and will guide you through it if you only put your trust in Him.
3. He cares about you.
“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” I Peter 5:7 NKJV
“The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” Psalms 138:8 NKJV
“The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.” Psalms 34:10 NKJV
Everything that is important to you is important to him. Everything that you care about, God cares about. Even the things that seem silly or irrelevant, like having a great hair day, or gaining/losing weight at the gym, or succeeding in school. God sees your heart and knows your desires. If you go to Him with them, He will listen and He will work things out according to his will. After all, God is our best friend, and best friends care about each other and share everything! And if they could, they would give us the best. God can give us the very best if we trust in Him and give ourselves fully to Him.
4. You are safe to trust and rely in God
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.” Isaiah 54:17 NKJV
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Psalms 34:19 NKJV
The entire chapter of Psalms 37
God is a solid foundation. He isn’t going anywhere. Your friends may let you down, your lover may fall through, your family may betray you, but you can be certain that God won’t. He will always come through when you need him. There are countless stories and proven miracles throughout the scripture (and all around you!) where God has never failed his people. Even in the darkest hour, He will sustain you and provide you with everything you could ever need and desire.
The enemy wants to sow seeds of doubt and fear in your heart when things go wrong. Sometimes the enemy will set up ways for you to fall and fail. But be comforted in this: Unless God allows it (which he only does if it is for your eventual benefit/plan for your life), The enemy won’t succeed. God has got your back!
5. Everything is working for your good
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 NKJV
There is actually a reason for everything. Yes, even the things that seem useless or pointless or dumb, God doesn’t waste anything- not even your mistakes. Every single thing you went through can make you more like Jesus if you let Him do his work. Jesus has your best interest at heart. He won’t let you suffer for no reason. Everything is for your good and for His glory. We are the clay, and he is the potter. He is making us and molding us into his image and masterpiece, so we can one day be called home.
So, when it feels like world is crashing down on you, rest in the eye of the storm and know that God sees you, He loves you, and will not only turn this for your benefit, but will restore everything you have lost ten times over! We are reminded of the promises of God all throughout the scripture. He knows that life can be troubling sometimes, so he has given us his word to strengthen and keep us. God is faithful, and reliable, and he promises us he will never let us down. I will end this post with one of my favorite scriptures:
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”” John 16:33 NKJV
